The Everest Three Passes Trek is one of the most challenging and rewarding trekking adventures in the Everest region. You cross three high Himalayan passes—Renjo La (5,360 m), Cho La (5,420 m), and Kongma La (5,535 m)—while also visiting Gokyo Lakes, Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Ri, and Kala Patthar. This trek takes you through remote valleys, high glacial terrain, traditional Sherpa villages, and some of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in the world. Designed for experienced trekkers, it combines adventure, endurance, and deep cultural immersion in the Khumbu region.
You arrive in Kathmandu and are transferred to your hotel. In the evening, you meet your guide for a trek briefing, equipment check, and final preparations.
You have a full day to prepare, rest, organize gear, or explore Kathmandu. This day also serves as a buffer in case of flight delays.
You take an early morning flight to Lukla and begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi River through Sherpa villages and suspension bridges to Phakding. During peak season, flights may operate from Manthali (approx. 6 hrs drive early morning or night before).
You cross several suspension bridges and enter Sagarmatha National Park. A steady uphill climb brings you to Namche Bazaar with possible views of Everest and Lhotse.
You acclimatize with short hikes to nearby viewpoints such as Everest View Hotel or nearby Sherpa villages.
You leave the main trail and trek through quieter valleys to the traditional Sherpa village of Thame.
You trek through remote alpine landscapes and yak pastures while gradually gaining altitude.
You continue trekking through a remote valley to Lungdeng, surrounded by rugged Himalayan terrain.
You cross Renjo La Pass with panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu before descending to the beautiful Gokyo Lakes.
You rest and explore the Gokyo Lakes area, helping your body adjust to the altitude.
You climb Gokyo Ri for breathtaking views of Everest and the Ngozumpa Glacier before trekking to Thagnak.
You cross the technical Cho La Pass, involving glacier terrain, before descending to Dzongla.
You trek through high alpine landscapes to Lobuche.
You walk alongside the Khumbu Glacier to reach Gorakshep.
You trek to Everest Base Camp and experience the foot of the world's highest mountain before returning to Gorakshep.
You descend back to Lobuche for rest and recovery.
You trek downhill through glacial valleys to Dughla.
You cross the highest pass of the trek, Kongma La, before descending to Chhukung.
You descend into Dingboche with impressive mountain views.
You trek through alpine forests to Tengboche, home to the famous monastery.
You descend back to Namche Bazaar through classic Khumbu trails.
You complete your final trekking day back to Lukla.
You fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
You are transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
